Ranking regulations

1. Scope and authority

1.1These regulations are issued by the KBN Ranking Committee under the Executive Statute. They apply to every athlete who applies for or holds a KBN ranking, to national branches and to event organisers seeking sanction.

1.2The Ranking Committee interprets these regulations. Where a situation is not covered, the Ranking Committee decides and records its reasons.

1.3This is the founding edition of the point framework and is subject to review by the Ranking Committee. Changes are published on this page with their effective date and are not applied retrospectively to published tables unless the change corrects an error.

2. Fundamental rule

2.1Ranking points are earned only through verified sporting performance and can never be purchased. Athletes submit records and evidence, not self-calculated points. KBN alone verifies results and calculates points. Applicants are not shown an estimated point total during registration.

3. Eligibility

3.1Male and female athletes in amateur or professional categories with documented participation in official national, international, continental or world events.

3.2Priority disciplines during the founding period: MMA, Kickboxing, Boxing and Muay Thai. Other individual martial arts are subject to approval by the KBN Technical Committee.

3.3To appear in a published table an athlete must hold a KBN licence with status "licensed", have their ranking published by KBN World HQ, not be suspended, and have more than zero points.

3.4Athletes under 18 may be ranked only with documented parental or guardian consent; see the Safeguarding & minors policy.

4. Evidence

4.1Each claimed bout requires a bout record and at least one of: an official result sheet, a fight card, an official result link or written confirmation from the organiser or federation. Where available, a medal, placement certificate, championship diploma, recognised athlete profile, fight video and organiser contact details should also be provided.

4.2Identity is verified against a passport or valid national identity document and a portrait photograph.

4.3KBN may request further evidence at any stage and may refuse a result whose evidence cannot be verified.

5. The review process

5.1Applications pass through six stages: (1) intake and completeness check; (2) identity, event and result verification; (3) approval or rejection of each claimed result; (4) point calculation under KBN rules; (5) Fighter ID, licence and athlete profile creation; (6) ranking publication and certificate issue.

5.2National branches carry out stages 1 to 3 for their country. Only KBN World HQ (the Ranking Committee) sets event levels and multipliers, issues Fighter IDs and licences, publishes rankings, issues certificates and suspends licences.

5.3Results entered by referees in the live scoring system are recorded as pending and count only once an administrator has verified them.

5.4Every decision is recorded with who made it, when and, for rejections, the reason.

6. Point framework

6.1The Ranking Committee may set a lower multiplier for an event, or reject an event (×0), that does not meet KBN's technical or integrity standards. The decision is recorded with reasons and applies to every result at that event.

6.2An event submitted by an applicant has no level until KBN World HQ sets one. Until then its bouts score zero and cannot be approved.

6.3Only results with verification status "verified" count.

7. Tables, scopes and tie-breaks

7.1Tables are kept separately for every combination of discipline, category (professional/amateur), gender and weight class. Points never transfer between tables.

7.2Each table exists in three scopes: world, continental (by the continent of the athlete's country) and national (by country).

7.3Order: points (highest first), then verified wins, then surname (alphabetical).

7.4Movement arrows compare the current position with the position calculated 30 days earlier; "NEW" means the athlete was not ranked then.

7.5The calculation date for all tables is the current date (or, on a demo site, the fixed demo date shown). As results age, points reduce automatically at 12 and 24 months.

8. Weight classes

8.1Weight classes are assigned from gender and declared weight at registration and may be adjusted by KBN. The current tables are sample tables until KBN publishes Annex A of the Executive Statute; when Annex A is published, athletes will be re-assigned and informed.

9. Publication and correction

9.1A ranking is published only after the six-stage review is complete. The Committee may correct a table at any time where a result is found to be wrong, an event is re-graded or a licence status changes. Corrections are logged and take effect immediately, and affected athletes are informed.

9.2Ranking calculations are automated from verified inputs. Any athlete may ask for a human review of a calculation or position under the Complaints & appeals procedure.

10. Withdrawal of points

10.1Points are removed where a result is annulled by the organiser or a governing body, where evidence is found to be false, where an anti-doping rule violation is established, or where a licence is suspended (for the period of the suspension). Removal is subject to the Complaints & appeals procedure.

11. Founding period

11.1For 90 days from the official publication date, KBN accepts verified results from the preceding 24 months. Results older than 24 months may be recorded but score zero in the active ranking.

12. Open questions KBN may decide

12.1The following defaults apply until the Ranking Committee decides otherwise: no-contest bouts earn 0 participation points; tournament placement points are added on the final or semi-final bout only; the tie-break order is points, verified wins, surname; a bout counts as a KBN title defence only where KBN records it as such; weight classes are sample tables until Annex A is published.
