Event participant terms

1. Who these terms apply to

1.1These terms apply to athletes, corners, coaches, officials and team members taking part in an event sanctioned by KBN (a "Participant"). The event organiser's own entry terms and any bout agreement also apply; where they conflict with these terms on safety, anti-doping or the ranking, these terms prevail.

1.2Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Your statutory rights are not affected.

2. Understanding the risks

2.1Combat sports involve physical contact and an inherent risk of injury, including serious injury. By entering you confirm that you understand the nature of the sport and that you have trained and prepared appropriately.

2.2KBN and organisers take reasonable steps to manage those risks: rules, qualified referees, judges and ringside medical staff, medical checks, weight limits and protective equipment where required. Accepting the inherent risks of the sport does not mean accepting risks caused by anyone's negligence or breach of these safety measures.

3. Eligibility and medical requirements

3.1You must hold a valid KBN licence (athletes) or official's licence where required, not be suspended, and hold valid medical clearance. You must pass the pre-bout medical examination, weigh in within the published limits and comply with any post-bout medical suspension.

3.2You must tell the ringside physician about any injury, illness, medication or condition that could affect your safety. The medical team and the referee may stop or refuse a bout on safety grounds; that decision is final for that event.

3.3Athletes under 18 compete only with written parental consent and in age-appropriate categories (see Safeguarding & minors policy).

4. Rules and conduct

4.1You must follow the rules of the discipline, the instructions of officials, the Code of conduct & disciplinary rules and the Anti-doping & medical policy, and you consent to in- and out-of-competition testing.

4.2Results are recorded by officials in the live scoring system and are counted in the ranking only after verification by KBN (see Ranking regulations).

5. Images and broadcasting

5.1Events may be photographed, filmed, broadcast and streamed. KBN and the organiser may use images and footage of you taking part in the event for reporting and promoting the sport, as described in Photography & media consent. Separate agreement is needed for advertising a third party's product, and for minors written parental consent is required. You can object as set out in that policy.

6. Insurance

6.1The organiser is responsible for holding the insurance required by law and by KBN's sanctioning conditions. Participants are strongly advised to hold their own personal accident insurance. The minimum insurance required by KBN for sanctioned events is [to be confirmed].

7. Personal data

7.1Entry, weigh-in, medical and result data are processed as described in the Privacy notice.

8. Cancellations and changes

8.1Bouts may be changed or cancelled for medical, safety, weight or regulatory reasons. KBN is not responsible for the organiser's commercial arrangements with Participants (for example purses or travel), which are governed by the bout agreement.
