Mixed martial arts has more promotions, more rule variations and more unofficial "smokers" than almost any other combat sport. That makes a verified ranking valuable, and it is why KBN asks for evidence rather than claims. If you have competed in official amateur or professional MMA bouts, this is how you turn that record into a world ranking.
What makes MMA different in the KBN framework
The formula is the same across disciplines: base points × event multiplier × time value. MMA has one rule of its own. A win by submission earns the same +5 finishing bonus as a win by KO or TKO. In kickboxing, boxing and Muay Thai a submission is not a legal finish, so the bonus exists only in MMA.

Which MMA bouts are eligible
- Official amateur or professional bouts at events that KBN World HQ has sanctioned or assigned a level to.
- Bouts with an official record: a result sheet, a published fight card with results, or written confirmation from the promotion or federation.
- Bouts fought in the last 24 months if you want them to score. Older results are recorded but worth zero.
Amateur MMA and professional MMA are separate categories and separate tables. Points never transfer from one to the other, and they never transfer between weight classes either.
Getting your evidence right
MMA promotions often publish results only on social media. That can be acceptable, but it is weaker than a signed result sheet. The strongest applications include:
- The official result sheet or bout sheet signed by the promotion or the supervising commission.
- A link to the published result on the promotion's or federation's own website.
- The name and contact details of a person who can confirm the result: matchmaker, event director or officiating supervisor.
- The method exactly as recorded: "submission (rear-naked choke), round 2, 3:14" rather than just "win".
If the official sheet says "TKO (doctor stoppage)" and you write "KO", the branch will ask you to correct it. Match the official wording.

How event level changes the value
The event multiplier is set by KBN World HQ when the event is sanctioned. You cannot choose it, and an organiser cannot buy a higher one.

If you fought at an event KBN does not yet know, name it in your application. It is created without a level and your bout scores zero until KBN World HQ assigns one. Until then the result cannot be approved. HQ can also reduce a multiplier, or reject an event (×0), if it did not meet technical or integrity standards.
Time value: plan your activity
A result keeps full value for 12 months, drops to 50 percent from month 13 to month 24, and then scores zero. For an MMA athlete who fights two or three times a year, that means your ranking is mostly built from the last two years of activity. Long lay-offs cost ranking position even without a loss.
After approval
When your bouts are verified and your points calculated, KBN World HQ issues your KBN Fighter ID, licence number and a Fighter Ranking License valid for one year. Publication adds you to the world, continental and national tables for your division and issues a Certificate of Official World Ranking. Promoters and opponents can check your licence status by scanning its QR code at check-in.
Amateur MMA considerations
Amateur MMA rules differ widely: some restrict elbows, strikes to the head on the ground or certain leg locks, and rounds are often shorter. None of that changes how the result is scored in the KBN formula, but it matters for evidence: state the ruleset in your bout record so the verifier can match it to the event.

Common MMA-specific pitfalls
- Declaring a "smoker" or gym show as an official bout: without officials and an official result, it cannot be verified.
- Mixing amateur and professional bouts in one category.
- Recording a technical submission as a TKO, or the reverse: copy the official wording.
- Forgetting that catchweight bouts still need a division: the branch will use the official bout weight.
