Muay Thai has its own rules, its own scoring culture and its own ranking tables at KBN. A Muay Thai result never counts in a kickboxing table, even when the same athlete competes in both. This guide explains how Muay Thai bouts are evaluated and how to present your record so it can be verified quickly.
Separate discipline, separate tables
KBN keeps a separate ranking for every combination of discipline, category (amateur or professional), gender and weight class. A Muay Thai professional women's flyweight is ranked only against other Muay Thai professional women's flyweights, in three scopes: world, continental and national.
If you compete in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, declare each bout under the ruleset it was actually fought under. The official result sheet decides the discipline, not the fighter's preference.

These base points are multiplied by the event level (×1.0 national up to ×3.0 World Championship) and by the time value (100 percent for 12 months, 50 percent from 12 to 24 months, then 0).
Stadium, promotion and federation bouts
Muay Thai is fought in many settings: national federation championships, international opens, promotional cards and traditional stadium shows. For a bout to count in the KBN ranking, the event must have a KBN level. Events already in the register show their level on the events page. If your event is not there, name it in your application; it is added without a level and scores nothing until KBN World HQ decides whether and at what level to recognise it.
HQ looks at the same things for every event: an identifiable organiser, qualified officials, medical cover, published results and a ruleset that matches the discipline. Where standards are not met it may reduce the multiplier or reject the event entirely.
Presenting your record
- Record bouts one per event, with the exact date from the official result.
- Give the bout weight as officially weighed, not your walking weight.
- Write the method exactly as officially recorded: "TKO round 3 (referee stoppage)" or "decision (unanimous)".
- If the result sheet is in Thai or another language, upload it as it is and add a short description; do not re-type it as if it were the original.
- Name a contact person who can confirm the result, ideally the event's officiating supervisor.

The expired continental loss stays on the verified record as a loss, but contributes nothing to the active total.
After your ranking is published
You receive a KBN Fighter ID, a licence valid for one year and a Certificate of Official World Ranking. Your public profile shows your verified record, your points breakdown and your world, continental and national positions. Keep fighting at sanctioned events to replace results as they age; your position depends on the last two years, not your whole career.
Amateur Muay Thai and tournaments
Amateur Muay Thai is frequently organised as tournaments, with several bouts over a few days and protective equipment. Every verified bout in a tournament earns its own points, and the placement bonus (+25 third, +50 runner-up, +100 champion) is added once, on the deciding bout. A champion who wins four bouts at a Continental Championship on points collects 25 × 2.0 = 50 for each of the first three and (5 + 20 + 100) × 2.0 = 250 for the final: 400 points at full value.
Choosing where to fight
- Prefer events already in the KBN register with a level: the events page shows it.
- For an event abroad, check that results will be published and that someone can confirm them afterwards.
- Remember that the event's own name ("world title", "grand prix") does not decide its KBN level; KBN World HQ does.
Keeping your profile accurate
Once ranked, keep your profile's division accurate. If you move weight class, tell your branch; each bout counts in the division in which it was fought, and your licence states the division it is valid for.

No. They are different disciplines with separate tables, and points never transfer between them.
QDoes a referee stoppage count as a TKO?
Yes. A win by referee or doctor stoppage is recorded as a TKO and earns the +5 finishing bonus.
