Women's combat sports have grown fast at every level, but ranking coverage has often lagged behind. At KBN, women's divisions are built into the structure from the start: every table is split by gender, and every rule applies equally.
Same formula, same standard
A woman's bout is scored exactly like a man's: base points ร event multiplier ร time value. The same base points apply (5 participation, +20 win, +5 KO/TKO, +5 submission in MMA only, placement and title bonuses), with the same five event levels and the same 12/24-month time value. Evidence is verified to the same standard, and licences and certificates are identical documents.
Women's weight classes
| Class | Upper limit |
|---|---|
| Atomweight | 48 kg |
| Flyweight | 52 kg |
| Bantamweight | 56 kg |
| Featherweight | 60 kg |
| Lightweight | 64 kg |
| Welterweight | 69 kg |
| Middleweight | 75 kg |
| Heavyweight | No limit |
These are sample tables used until KBN publishes Annex A. The women's welterweight limit (69 kg) differs from the men's (71 kg); always check the rankings page.
Divisions
Women are ranked in every discipline and category: for example Professional Women's Muay Thai Flyweight or Amateur Women's Kickboxing Featherweight. Each has world, continental and national scopes.
Governance
The KBN Executive Statute provides for a Women's Committee (also responsible, with youth matters, for safeguarding). Every national branch lists a women's lead on its board. Branch pages show their board, so athletes know who to contact.
Thin tables and why they still matter
Some women's divisions currently have few ranked athletes. A thin table is not a weaker ranking; it reflects the verified results that exist. As more women apply and have results verified, the tables fill. Early ranked athletes help define their divisions.
Practical notes for women athletes
- Declare your bouts in the gender division of the event; mixed-gender bouts are not part of the ranking structure.
- Weight classes matter for safety; talk to a doctor and coach before changing class.
- Medical clearance requirements are the same for everyone and are recorded as a validity date only.
For women athletes applying
- Declare your division carefully: discipline, category and weight class.
- Submit every official bout, including losses: they earn participation points.
- Tournament placements matter a great deal in amateur tables: record them on the deciding bout.
- Keep medical clearance valid; it is recorded as a validity date only.
For organisers
Women's bouts count exactly like men's at every event level. Include women's divisions in sanction requests and bout cards, and make sure changing, weigh-in and medical arrangements respect all athletes.
For fans
Use the gender filter on the rankings page to see women's tables. The URL keeps your filters, so you can share a link directly to a women's division.
Myths and facts
| Myth | Fact |
|---|---|
| Women's points are scaled differently | The formula is identical |
| Women share men's weight classes | Women's classes have their own sample limits |
| Thin tables are less official | Every table follows the same rules and evidence standard |
| Only professional women are ranked | Amateur women's tables exist in every discipline |
Why separate tables are fair
Separating tables by gender, like separating by weight class, compares athletes with others competing under the same conditions. It also makes women's achievements visible: a World No. 1 in a women's division is recognised with the same certificate, licence and verify page as any other.
Growing women's divisions
Branches can help by including women's divisions in national championships, encouraging clubs to enter women athletes into sanctioned events, and telling women athletes about the ranking early so they collect evidence from their first bouts.
Finding your table
On the rankings page, choose Women, then the discipline, category and weight class. The table shows positions, movement, verified records and points, and each name links to a profile with a full points breakdown.
Frequently asked questions
QAre women's points worth the same as men's?
Yes. The formula is identical. Women are ranked in separate tables, so points are compared only with other women in the same division.
QWhy are the women's weight limits different?
The sample tables use different class limits for women. They will be replaced by KBN's official Annex A.
QCan women be ranked in amateur and professional categories?
Yes. Every category has women's tables.
QWho represents women athletes in KBN?
The Statute provides for a Women's Committee, and each national branch has a women's lead on its board.
