Official numbers are the backbone of verification. Knowing how they are built helps you spot errors and forgeries, and explains what each number is for.
The three numbers

Decoding each part
- KBN: the federation.
- {CC}: the two-letter ISO country code of the athlete's country, for example GB, TR, RU, IR, AE, UZ, NG, BR.
- L: licence. WR: world ranking certificate.
- {yy}: the two-digit year of issue.
- The sequence: a running number. Licence sequences have five digits and certificate sequences six, padded with leading zeros.
Generated, unique, never reused
Numbers are generated inside a database transaction using sequences, so two athletes can never receive the same number, and a number is never reused even if a licence is later suspended or a record merged. Nobody types a number by hand.
The document series
KBN documents also print a document series code, for example KBN-FRL-26A. It identifies the template version of the document, not the athlete. It is a platform setting.
QR codes
Every licence and certificate carries a QR code:
- The licence QR opens the verify page for the licence number.
- The certificate QR opens the verify page for the certificate number.
The domain in the QR comes from the platform's configuration, so it always points at KBN's current official domain (worldkbn.com).
How to verify
Enter any of the three numbers on the verify page, or scan a QR code. The page shows whether the document is valid, active, suspended or expired, or says "No matching record". It never shows identity documents or contact details.
Signs of a problem
- A number with the wrong structure (for example a four-digit licence sequence).
- A country code that does not match the athlete's country.
- A QR code pointing to a different website.
- A number that the verify page does not find.

A worked example of reading a licence
Take the demo licence of Aleksei Karimov:
- Fighter ID KBN-UZ-1040: a KBN athlete from Uzbekistan (UZ), sequence 1040.
- Licence number KBN-L-26-40100: a licence issued in 2026, sequence 40100.
- Certificate number KBN-WR-26-100200: a world ranking certificate issued in 2026, sequence 100200.
Entering any of these on the verify page returns the same athlete's current status and ranks. If a document showed KBN-UZ-1040 with a different name, it would not match the register and should be treated as invalid.
When numbers change
A new licence can be issued at renewal; a certificate is issued at publication. The Fighter ID never changes. When KBN moves to a new domain, QR codes on regenerated documents point to the new verify page automatically, because the domain comes from configuration.

On a site marked "Demo environment", the numbers shown are sample data. They follow the real formats so the verify page, QR codes and documents can be demonstrated, but they are not real licences or certificates.
